2017 bursts forth at the Arriaga, with a new season underway that begins with this concert-installation for two female voices, a choir and string quartet, designed by the prestigious German set designer, Rebecca Ringst. And then you came to rob me of my soul is the suggestive title of a show in which we can enjoy musical gems by such personal and charismatic artists as Richard Wagner, György Ligeti and Alban Berg.
“Night covered us with its glowing fur coat
Under an impermeable sky
The trolls came out of their hiding places
To play ball
Their faces stained with an orange light
I put on a clown’s mask
With a dislocated smile
And then you came
To rob me of my soul”
