The MANZANARES Trio is made up of three great instrumentalists: the double bass player Javier Colina, the Cuban saxophonist Ariel Bringuez (who already visited the Arriaga in April 2021) and the drummer Borja Barrueta from Bilbao. Living very close to each other, in the Madrid Mountains, on the banks of the Guadarrama River, they naturally came together, and as a result of these musical encounters, their artistic expression began to take shape. The group decided to form a trio with no explicit harmony instrument and little by little they completed a repertoire free of labels, which makes room for themes of Jazz origin, Cuban classics, Gnawa music… and many others. Such varied individual backgrounds, given their origin, produces a unique sonority, and their collective direction as a rule gives priority to freedom over security, in the perpetual struggle that nearly always takes place, in music and in life, between these two forces.
The Manzanares Trio comes to Arriaga Theatre at a great moment, as their repertoire has been refined live in numerous concert halls and clubs in Madrid.
