TOUNDRA
A musical journey charged with nuances to give shape to the soundtrack of "El gabinete del doctor Caligari".
Toundra, the rock band from Madrid, was formed in 2007. Their sound – powerful guitar riffs, alluring melodies and intricate auras, enveloped in spacious songs charged with electricity – accentuate the incandescent flame of the group’s live performances and rapidly made them one of the most acclaimed instrumental bands in Europe, touring regularly throughout the continent with each new album. In 2020 they release their new project “‘Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari’, a soundtrack for the classic German expressionist film which is celebrating its centenary anniversary and which they present live with the film, synchronised to perfection.
This project is not a Toundra record; it is the soundtrack to “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari”, and cannot be understood without the images that inspired that 1920’s film directed by Robert Wiene. “Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari” is Toundra’s new instrumental journey. Through its own merits the band has become a standard for its genre, and in this new work they demonstrate their ability to reinvent themselves and take us by the hand on this musical journey, charged with nuances.
