Declan Donnellan is considered to be a master of stage management and a world reference thanks to his staging of “Shakespearean theatre” as the Artistic Director of the British company, Cheek by Jowl, which he heads alongside the stage designer, Nick Ormerod. Their plays stand out for their beauty and quality, such as “The Winter’s Tale”, this wonderful performance in English with subtitles which brings all of the wealth of the world of the genius English author to the stalls, revealing a Shakespeare who, upon completing his great tragedies, allows the darkness of a terrible drama turn into happiness, whilst the characters reflect on human behaviour.
Donellan has successfully presented classic and modern theatre plays, opera and ballet and he wrote the book, “The Actor and the Target”, and even worked in film, directing Uma Thurman in “Bel Ami”.
