The word ‘tosta’ means the bench in a boat, and is a word that is present, with small variations, in many minority languages along the European Atlantic coast. 10 musicians/singers from countries and cultures with minority languages make up Tosta Banda. All of them, eminent musicians in Scotland, Friesland, Wales, Cornwall, Galicia, Ireland and the Basque Country, share a desire to merge and share their roots. They even fuse music and dance thanks to two Kukai dancers and one Celtic dancer from Cornwall.
Instruments, styles, rhythms and dances from these cultures are combined to reinterpret and reinvent songs from these roots in a unique concert-show, filled with visual and musical force, which reflects the importance of the little things and of diversity, because, as the song says “…they know that, even when we’re little, together we’re a volcano!”.
