Una oda al tiempo (Ode to Time) is a much needed conversation with memory. A flamenco choreography on the ephemeral, the eternal and the immutable, based on texts by Plato, Marguerite Yourcenar, Jorge Luis Borges, John Cage, Octavio Paz, Martin Heidegger, Marcel Duchamp and Pablo Neruda. In this show, María Pagés reflects on the relentlessness of the arrow of time and its ruthless effects on our bodies and our desires, on art and life.
Accompanied by eight dancers and seven musicians, Pagés invokes her flamenco memory to think about tradition and contemporaneity. Every member of her company is forced to retrace their steps to the time of origin, to experience the joy of being alive, to feel the euphoria of love, desire and beauty. The other side is also present: melancholy, withdrawal, fear.
