The excellent tenor Ismael Jordi uses his voice and acting quality to recreate the unforgetable Luis Mariano’s repertoire.
Calixto Bieito proposes an emotional journey through the life and work of the great tenor Luis Mariano (1914-1970), through a musical performance that will also include visual elements and images.
Luis Mariano was born in Irún, on this side of the border, and is buried in Arrangoitze (Arcangues, in Spanish), on the other side. His life journey always straddled both sides of the border, and the performance will play with this concept and imagery. The border and its connotations, what it means as an element of connection and at the same time separation, the perception of that long-awaited brother who is close and at the same time so far away. And music serves as the vehicle for these emotions.
