Work freely inspired by the "Egunkaria case", a tribute to journalism and the media that have been unfairly closed down
As one of the characters in the play states, a newspaper “is like War and Peace in miniature”. An endless novel that terminates every day. The chaos of the world crammed into four columns. It is not surprising that their vocation guides them: the work of journalists is an impossible mission: while in the newspaper’s editorial office they struggle with precariousness and disillusionment and race against the clock for precision and truthfulness; power pulls the strings in the attempt to control information. It is the journalist’s job to investigate and ask, but what if the tables were turned and the journalist was the one being questioned?
This play, freely inspired by the “Egunkaria case”, is a tribute to journalism and to all the media that have been unfairly closed down.
