The culture and society of France served as inspiration and a welcoming environment for many artists. This is the case for highly esteemed composers such as Miquel Capllonch, Baltasar Samper, and Jaume Mas Porcel, all born in Mallorca, and still relatively unknown. Irene Mas Salom and Malcolm Martineau will unveil some of their works, alongside some of the most representative pieces by Frederic Mompou, who also had artistic ties to France. The recital will be complemented by cycles such as Debussy’s ‘Fêtes galantes I’ and Poulenc’s ‘Fiançailles pour rire,’ among other compositions.

Irene Mas Salom shares these beautiful words about the program for this recital, made possible through collaboration with the Lied festival ‘Life Victoria Barcelona’: ‘Positive nostalgia, as a huge gratitude for the opportunity to delve into the fascinating world of Lied someday. That’s why my proposal this time is a tribute to some of the composers who have accompanied me the most until today. All of them have marked a before and after for me at some point in my journey.’ And alongside her, a pianist of immense sensitivity like the British Malcolm Martineau, renowned for his profound knowledge of vocal repertoire and his ability to adapt to different musical styles. He is a regular pianist at the finest concert halls, and now we have the pleasure of enjoying his performance here at the Teatro Arriaga.”
