Commemorating the Bicentenary of the birth of the maestro Emilio Arrieta, one of the most distinguished proponents of Navarrese culture, this concert is a tribute to the figure and legacy of one of the essential authors in the history of Spanish music, who is credited, among other merits, for playing a fundamental role in the consolidation of Zarzuela as a genre.
Soprano Sabina Puértolas and pianist Rubén Fdez Aguirre perform a selection of Arrieta’s songs for voice and piano, several of them previously unheard. The programme includes some beautiful Romanzas and Arias, the icing on the cake being the addition of two newly-created works, composed by Alberto García Demestres and Carlos Imaz, which pay tribute to the great maestro from Puente la Reina.
