When December comes around and Christmas approaches, it feels like gospel time. We don’t know why – that’s just the way it is. And if it is performed by the Harlem Gospel Choir, one of the most renowned groups in the world, it is even more appealing. The Harlem Gospel Choir, a great gospel choir based in Harlem (New York), is a benchmark in the United States. In their 35 years of existence, they have given countless concerts, as well as having performed in numerous television programmes and participated in shows with musicians of the standing of Paul McCartney, Diana Ross, Whoopi Goldberg, The Chieftains, Bono, André Rieu and John Legend, and many others.
Founded on January 15th (Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday) 1986 by Allen Bailey, the Harlem Gospel Choir tours the world every year with a line-up of 9 singers and 2 musicians. In New York they are a true institution and perform every Sunday at the BB King Blues Club. It will be a delight to suffuse Arriaga Theatre with their ambient sounds.
