Multicultural interethnic contact, between the Basque people who sailed the seas in search of a new life and the native peoples of the lands they visited, transformed ancestral music traditions forever. In those remote spots, a new musical tradition was created, which also changed the tradition of the Basque people themselves and their way of viewing the world, giving rise to a renewal in Basque music.
Euskal Barrokensemble, the ensemble led by Enrike Solinis, are returning to the Arraiga with a selection of songs that represent these round-trip forms of music. Music that brought new colour to Basque culture, and which is largely unknown to audiences, but which deserves to be enjoyed with full intensity. A journey to the roots of the world and back again.
