Mikel Azpiroz’s new album Islak, a collection of nine of his own compositions played on a fabulous 1978 Steinway & Sons model B grand piano, serves as the starting point for this recital in which he combines his music with the beautiful prose of Bernardo Atxaga.
“Time is not established anywhere in the same way: either in things, or in animals, or in other realities. It settles slowly, for example, on stone; hundreds or thousands of years have to pass for a perceptible alteration to take place in some stones.
However, this is not so with flowers; most of them last for one season, barely a few months.
As for the animal kingdom, parrots and turtles receive time in one way, butterflies in another. Not to mention the so-called ephemeropteran flies.
Bear in mind other realities: music and texts that come to us in writing…”.
