A century later, the “copla” continues to resonate in the voices of many artists and poets who remember it, in the memories of our elders, and thanks to them, also in the minds of the younger generation. Diana Navarro, a staunch advocate of musical traditions, invites us on a sonic journey from the simplicity of the piano in its purest form, to the most surprising fusion, demonstrating once again that the “copla” is timeless.
After achieving resounding success as an actress portraying Doña Concha Piquer in the show En Tierra Extraña, which we had the pleasure of witnessing at the Teatro Arriaga in 2022, Diana has sought to pay tribute to this great artist and the “copla” genre by recreating her most emblematic and lesser-known songs. In doing so, she contributes to ensuring that younger generations can have a role model in a woman who, at the age of 14, was the first Spanish performer on Broadway and the first actress to have sound film footage in the world, among other achievements throughout her career.
