A journey between two cultural worlds through Argentine chamber song, experiencing the valuable artistic exchange between Spain and Latin America during the 19th and 20th centuries.
In the first part of the concert, we will listen to works by Eduardo Grau, Jaime Pahissa, and Andrés Gaos, some of the most prominent Spanish musicians, composers, and pedagogues who emigrated and settled in various parts of Argentina, playing an important role in the socio-cultural development of the time. As a testament to this valuable exchange between poets and composers, which allowed for the enrichment and development of Argentine chamber song, we can also appreciate the work of Juan José Castro.
In the second half of this journey, we will encounter contemporaries such as Carlos Guastavino, Alberto Ginastera, and Alberto Williams, prominent representatives of Argentine nationalism, as well as figures of musical Americanism like Hector Iglesias Villoud, Girado Gilardi, and Pascual Quarantino.
