CONTADO POR ELLAS
A work for the recovery of historical memory that comes from the heart.
“My great-grandmother was imprisoned for two years, six hundred kilometres from her home. She had to leave her three daughters alone. Contado por ellas is a play created from interviews and documentation gathered from women who lived through the war. Two of them are from Castellón, where I was born, and the other two are from Biscay, where I live now”. These are the words of Bea Insa, author, director and actress of Contado por ellas.
This play is a tribute to the women who lived through the Civil War, the post-war period and Franco’s regime. It talks about life in the shelters during the bombings, the life of women in the prisons, reprisals, the mass graves, exile.
Text-based theatre, video, performance and direct conversations with the audience.
