Cryptographers, translators and researchers are working against the clock to stop a multiple terrorist attack.
Cielos, by Wajdi Mouawad, is the final part of the “La sangre de las promesas” series after “Incendios”, “Litoral” and “Bosques”, which all have one thing in common: tragedy affecting humankind. Cielos takes us to an isolated spot where cryptographers, translators and researchers are working against the clock to stop a multiple terrorist attack which intends to cause social collapse.
Directed by Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Cielos opens with a voice, picked up and decoded among the millions of voices flying through the virtual sky of online messages. This voice, speaking on behalf of the children devoured by all 20th century wars, blames their parents for spilling their blood and threatens to reap devastating revenge: a terrorist attack at a scale that has never been seen before. However, like the myth of Cassandra, this voice which speaks of children’s spilled blood on their parents’ orders, this voice that proclaims revenge for the children, multiplying into voices that speak all languages, cannot be understood by those commissioned by the highest State powers to decipher it.
