BILBOKO UDAL MUSIKA BANDA – BANDA MUNICIPAL DE BILBAO

The 2024/25 season of the Bilbao Municipal Band unfolds under the theme “Homages.” The etymology of this word, stemming from the Middle Ages, is rooted in fidelity to someone or something. To pay homage is to demonstrate trust with others. The Bilbao Municipal Band pays homage to its city and its audience for their complicity, as without them, its existence would be meaningless. Additionally, in the concert we will offer at the Arriaga Theatre, homage will be paid to two great composers: the legendary Italian master Gioachino Rossini and the Valencian maestro Amando Blanquer, one of the greatest contributors to band composition of all time, whose 90th Anniversary we commemorate in 2025. A concert featuring two transcriptions and two original works for band that reflect the artistic idiosyncrasy of our Municipal Band.
