Ballett Theater Basel

Energy, subtlety and mysticism in a three-part programme by one of the greatest ballet companies in Europe

24 to 25 may 2019

Ballet Theater Basel is one of the greatest artistic companies in Central Europe. It comprises top-level ballet dancers from 30 different countries. Ballet Theater Basel is coming to the Arriaga Theatre with a contemporary dance programme featuring three pieces that are very different and yet complementary to one another.

The first is The Fools, by Hofesh Shechter, a renowned Israeli choreographer based in London – a vibrant piece about survival in a world of shadows. The Fools delivers the perfect mix of energy, intensity, power and rhythm through dance.

The second piece, Day Without Night by Czech choreographer Jiří Pokorný, premiered in Basel in February 2019. Inspired by Persian poetry and mysticism, it describes a world full of contrasts to grasp the essence of polarity.

Finally, This Is Everything, by the Puerto Rican choreographer living in New York Bryan Arias. It is quiet, intimate, honest, illustrating those moments in which we are entirely ourselves and connect to each other in an open way, without artifice. This Is Everything is subtle and elegant.
