Al desnudo

Recently awarded the National Dance Prize 2020 in the performance category, Iratxe Ansa is one of our most internationally-renowned choreographers and dancers. For more than twenty years she has worked with some of the most acclaimed and admired contemporary dance companies in the world, such as the Nederlands Dance Theatre, the Basel Ballet or the National Dance Company – under the direction of Nacho Duato. In 2019, together with the Italian dancer and choreographer Igor Bacovich, she founded Metamorphosis Dance, a company in which the experience, passion and the rigorous and free way of understanding dance of both creators converge. The work of Ansa and Bacovich, always demanding and extremely physical and masterly, crystallizes as never before in their latest and unique creation, Al desnudo.

Al desnudo is a demanding and dynamic performance, where music and movement merge in harmony. In a game of contrasts, the sensuality of the beginning, a classical duet to the rhythm of Philipp Glass, gives way, little by little, to a very physical and explicit dance, guided by the compositions of Johan Wieslander. The lighting, by the craftsman Danilo Moroni, is as much a part of the work as the performers themselves. A vital naturalism takes over the stage, enveloping the audience in a continuous crescendo as the piece progresses.
