THE NATIONAL PREMIERE WILL BE PERFORMED AT THE ARRIAGA THEATRE
“I have awakened to a new form of dance, consisting of dancing my ideas through the bodies of others. That includes older dancers, who bring with them their stories and their complex emotional experiences. But what remains unchanged is my passion to explore old and new myths in the context of our era”.
Inspired by the recent discovery of a fragment of the Babylonian Epic of Gilgamesh, one of the world’s oldest great literary works still preserved today, “Outwitting the Devil”, Akram Khan’s latest production is an epic that examines ritual and remembrance. In a landscape of broken boards and fallen idols, six characters exchange what remains of their riches and their stories, seeking to complete the fragments of ancient knowledge, lost and forgotten in time.
